Summer Bridges at Humboldt Redwoods State Park

Because of seasonal fluctuations in the river water level, some bridges over the Eel River are temporary. They are installed for the summer season beginning around June. The bridges are removed at the end of the season - usually in October. The seasonal bridges are indicated on the map with an asterisk.

There is a year-round bridge at the Big Tree Area that provides access to the backcountry areas of the park. The trails on the opposite side of the river may be reached via the river trail, which parallels the river from Childrens' Forest in the south to Federation Grove. The trail then follows Bull Creek to the Big Tree Area.
